Askalon Rebrands: Engineering Becomes Customized Solutions
As part of our effort to further highlight our design department, we are changing our name from Engineering to Customized Solutions.
- We wanted the name to better reflect what we actually do, says Sören Kindlund, Head of Customized Solutions at Askalon.
Askalon has extensive experience in creating complete solutions. In addition to our broad product range, we have a strong tradition as a module builder. For our customers, this means that we not only focus on the technical functionality of our products but also on installation and functional testing later in the project. Our goal is to simplify the process for our customers – from project start to final installation at the facility.
By maintaining a comprehensive perspective based on the customer’s needs, we help them integrate our products efficiently into their facility’s processes. This includes:
- Adapting solutions to specific process requirements or functions
- Packaging products as pre-assembled piping sections or modules
- Simplifying final assembly and functional verification
Efficient Installation and Reduced Risk
Our customers include production facilities preparing for maintenance shutdowns, where many activities must be carried out within a short time frame. With pre-fabricated modules from Askalon, the number of work steps during the time-sensitive final assembly is reduced. By verifying process functionality and compliance with pressure vessel directives in advance, we create optimal conditions for a smooth installation.
- Ensuring a smooth installation is crucial for overall installation costs, says Sören Kindlund. The last thing you want under time pressure is to flip through manuals.
Preparing assembly with modules offers significant benefits in terms of functionality, quality, and cost. It also contributes to a safer and better working environment. Many of our customers rely on consultants and contractors for installation, which increases the need for coordination.
- With a modular approach, the coordination puzzle becomes significantly easier to solve, Sören adds.
Another type of customer may be a machinery or system supplier needing additional equipment for their core delivery. In some cases, the end customer is on the other side of the world, making coordination, functional verification, and documentation even more critical.
Deviations can quickly lead to high costs and delays in agreements and project completion. By assembling piping systems and products into a frame-mounted module, we ensure that the process functionality remains intact. With a single connection point for electricity and instrument air, the module becomes a true "plug and play" solution. The final installation primarily consists of connecting incoming and outgoing pipes to the pre-fabricated module.
What Sets Askalon Apart from Other Module Builders and Welding Contractors?
What makes Askalon unique is that we design solutions with expertise in both products and processes.
- It’s a huge advantage that the design is done by those who truly understand the products. With a solution-focused approach and support from our product specialists and suppliers, we can confidently ensure that our solutions are optimally designed, says Sören Kindlund.
We base our designs on our extensive product range but are not limited to it – we always select products based on function and the customer’s specific application.
Our History and Development
Askalon has a long history as a module builder. Since 2010, this area has been known as Engineering, and over the years, we have developed process industry applications in close collaboration with our team of product and application specialists, both within Askalon and with our trusted partner, Emerson.
"We have had the privilege of working with major companies in the process industry and system suppliers. This has provided us with a solid knowledge base and a strong network of partners. Additionally, through new recruitments, we have strengthened our expertise in 3D modeling and digital design," explains Sören Kindlund.
Why Customized Solutions?
The transition to Customized Solutions reflects Askalon's commitment to a more customer-centric approach.
- Our previous name, 'Engineering,' focused more on the craft than on the value for the customer. We are taking product delivery one step further toward a complete installation. The goal is to make things easier for our customers, Sören Kindlund concludes.
